Detroit Autorama

We went to Autorama yesterday in Detroit.

There were so many people there it was hard to walk around.

Then there were the cars.  Some looked like they wanted to eat you

Others made us hungry

Picnic anyone?

This poor guy must think I'm serious....he looks awfully worried

I think we should fill this one up with water and make it a hot tub

There was even a car or two for the kids

Some were ready to make music

How bout a little Motown?

We found some one of a kind cars

and some shiny cars

Then it was time to head downstairs where the best cars were.  These are the daily drivers, and the ones not quite show ready. Kinda like the weird cousin you keep hidden in the basement.

I like the Jetson look of this one

We saw lots of cars with really cool paint jobs

and some old motorcycles

Moonshine for the picnic anyone?

And this one?  I'm not really sure why anyone would need this kind of storage, or why you would advertise it if you did but we like quirky so it made our picture list.

Where I find God

In the sky, when I look up to see Him

 In flowers
cultivated by man

and nature

In the animals who don't have a house or grocery store but survive anyway

In a calm ocean

and wild falls

Even in the snow that falls in winter

But yesterday, I found Him when I kneeled beside my bed on an overcast morning to say my prayers and in the middle of my petition the sun broke through the clouds to shine in one small spot of my room so that I felt as if He were shining His glory upon my face.

It figures...

I have a guest poster today, you know because I'm so busy I don't have time to write it myself.
Actually, it's just because he was venting on one of his sites so I said put it on mine too.

Robbie:

Today here in Southeast Michigan the weather was this:

So I thought it would be an AWESOME day to take a drive in this:

Brandi and I drove around and had a fun little trip... I came home, backed into the driveway, let my beautiful bride out so she didn't have to look "un-graceful" trying to get out in the garage. I went to back the next 30 feet into the garage and the truck wouldn't move.

Nothing...

I shifted out of reverse and back...

Nothing...

I could hear gears whirring and spinning, but the truck wouldn't move backwards. Forward, yes, backward, no. I started exploratory surgery:

The "master mechanic" I bought the truck from was nice enough to include a bunch of extra parts. Unfortunately, most of them weren't for a Dodge. He did have a transmission, but here's the rub...

I have floor-shift transmission...

Hee-hee, get it? The shifter is on the floor... Okay so I'm a spaz. Really, though, my transmission uses a floor-shift lever. and the transmission I had as a spare uses a column-shift mechanism:

So, just change the top cover - right?!? That's what I had planned. But when I took the cover off of the replacement transmission I found out that it was a syncronized type while mine is not. Thus, the cover will not interchange... Well, the cover will but these won't -

So I spent an hour removing these rivets that had been driven into place by an angry assembly line worker when Harry Truman was in office, probably thinking about going to fight in Korea:

So now I am at the point where I can actually start changing the transmission... The replacement looks pretty good so I have high hopes.

O.k, back to me now - thank you Robbie. And I have good news to share:

Ta-da!  We can once again make nachos.  Yay.....

Why I love My Husband

Morgan asked me today why I loved Rob.  She wanted to know how I knew he was the one and what it was about him that I loved.  That got me thinking....it's easy to say you love someone but sometimes it's harder to say why.  Here is my list:

He's willing to be seen with me no matter how I look.

His devotion to me is deeper and wider than any canyon

He was willing to commit his life to me

The way he looks at each of our chilren with love

He lets our girls run all over him.

When he's your friend, it's for life.

He likes to have fun with his family

He's goofy and makes me laugh.

 He's a great cook.

He finds things to be passionate about.

He loves to wear Hawaiian shirts and doesn't care what anyone thinks.

To my girls, he's Prince Charming.

He works hard....

 and plays hard.

He's also hard-headed and doesn't back down.

 He's handsome

No, really, he is.

Most of all, I love him because he makes me want to be a better person.
I love him because when I am with him I am a better person.
