1st game pitching

Morgan got to pitch in a game tonight - her first time pitching.  She even got to start the game.  I think she did really well for her first time out.  She struck out two batters and only allowed 4 runs in the inning.  This was a big step for her as she has never been played anywhere but outfield.  Here are some pics.  I had to get a few through the fence in order to get the pictures from the front.

Photographs

I've been watching the girls lately.  It's always amazing to me how fast time is going by and how quickly they are growing.  I am so thankful that I have taken so many pictures of them.  I have to look at those photographs to remember how they used to be.  All I can see now is how they are at this moment and every once in a while I panic thinking about how few years are left before they leave the house.  And so I realize that the best memories are the ones made when there was nothing special going on.  It's the every day moments that mean the most.

Making a phone from two cans and a string just to see if it works.
Cerah was surprised when it actuall did

Backyard Adventures

Yesterday was sunny and warm enough to be outside.  One of the first warm weekend days we've had this year.  Mostly it's been rainy or windy/cold.  Last Saturday it was 42 degrees with 50 mph wind gusts.  So we took advantage of the weather to get outside and do stuff in our backyard.

We started by clearing a spot for a small garden

This spot here in the middle is where a big tree stump used to be

We had a physics lesson

We went and took softball pictures

Notice the dirt on Hannah's knees.  She can't not get dirty

Cerah had to give this toad a talking to.  She had told him once before about coming too close to the house but he wouldn't listen

Apparently he didn't like what she had to say - look at that frown

We even had a campfire

While the kids put up tents for a sleep-out

Notice how Cerah, Anthony, and Kodi are working hard trying to figure out how the tents go up

While these two have already figured it out.  The trick is to let somebody else do it

And then reap the benefits of their hard work

Cerah's Course 3 Cake

Here is Cerah's finished cake for her class.  Her goal this time was to make a tiered cake

All of these flowers were made by hand as were the leaves

I added all these close-up pictures of the flowers because I wanted you to see the detail that went into them.
Do you see the ones that are multi colored?  Cerah had to make those that way.  She had to color the fondant, roll it out, and then roll out a second color and make them work together.  Altogether it took her about a week to make 30 flowers.

Catch-up

O.k, time for some catch up.  We have been sooo busy with softball, ice skating, cake decorating, church activities and sick mothers and mother in laws.  But I wouldn't have it any other way.  We like watching our kids do things they enjoy.  Alright, on to what I know you get on here for - pictures of the kids.

Cerah's newest cake creation from class

Look at the curls on that ribbon.  I love how it looks

Look at all those details.  Everything was hand made and then put on the cake.
Cerah is beginning to realize how much work is involved with cake decorating
