Almost Broadway

Rob and I went on a "real" date tonight. We got dressed up, went to a fancy restaurant, and then went and watched South Pacific at the Fox theater in Detroit. I can't remember the last time we have done something like this. Not that we don't go  to dinner occasionally, or to a movie, but we don't usually have a night on the town.

See, dressed up.

First stop, DaEdoardo Italian Restaurant....it's connected to the Fox Theater

Then, outside for a quick picture to show where we were

This is the inside of the Fox, built in 1928 as the first movie theater in the world to be constructed with built in equipment for sound film.

It's also pretty darn fancy, especially when you look at this ceiling.

These are statues that are set into recessed coves in the walls.

With all this gilt and ornate plaster we almost didn't need a show.

This telephone booth beats the N.Y. City Library phone booth hands down.

I loved these dragon/lion statues that guarded the stairs

Rob liked all the detailed work on the walls

Almost show time.
